Electrical wiring must meet the requirements of safety, reliability and
cost. It is therefore important to correctly calculate the length and
cross section required for the installation of electrical wiring
cables.
The length of wire is calculated on the circuit diagram. For this
scheme to measure the distance between adjacent locations boards, plug
sockets, switches, branch boxes, etc. Then, using the scale at which
the drawn diagram, calculate the length of wire segments, the length of
each segment to add at least 100 mm (recorded the need for adherence of
wires). The length of wire can be calculated also by measuring directly
on the panel, panels, walls, ceilings, etc. sections of the lines along
which the wires must be laid.
Cross section of wire is calculated on the loss of voltage and
current, valid long-term load. If the calculated cross section will
vary, for the final result are larger than a cross-section.
The loss of voltage due to voltage drop in the wires that connect
the source of electric current with the receiver. It should not exceed
2 - 5% of nominal voltage power supply. The cross-section of wires in a
loss of voltage is calculated in the design of electrical networks,
which feed electricity receivers industries, transport, major
residential and public buildings, etc.
In the design of small electrical installations, electrical
installations such as individual rooms, improvised devices, etc., loss
of tension in the wires can be neglected, because it is very small.
To calculate the cross section of the wires on the permissible
long-term need to know the current load rated current, which should be
designed for electrical wiring. Knowing the rated current, the cross
section of wire is on the table.
